From Thrive: link to original post
This week's update looks a lot more quiet, as much of the work has gone into our back-end systems that allow us to continue developing Thrive. Another factor is that while several volunteer contributions are in progress, there are less that were actually finished this week. There were still a few smaller bugfixes tweaks however. For example, the editor no longer warns about you not filling your storage before nightfall if that process does not actually rely on the sun, and the cell division “animation” was adjusted so that large cells don't stay stuck inside each other.
Our lead programmer decided to show how he made that last change in the form of a bugfixing speedrun:
We welcome all challengers!
While the game changes were limited, there was still quite some activity over on the development forums. This included some suggestions for Multicellular Stage cell parts, a passionate discussion on the merits of the resetting the game scene after every editor session and even some experiments on making Silica membranes look a lot more interesting. The spec-evo video project is also progressing, with a script-only version posted on the forums for feedback.
We hope to have more exciting news for you in the next update, so look below for the full progress list, and we will see you next week!
