Thrive: Progress Update 5/14/2022

From Thrive: link to original post

We had a decent amount of progress this week with many of our WIP features like the patch map generation and engulfment, which we are very excited to see completed. We’ve also had an exciting amount of assets created this week, which are shown off below. These additions are looking to make for an exciting update in the future of Thrive!

We regret to say that saves are going to be incompatible between 0.5.8 and 0.5.9 and will not carry over. The features we are implementing will change a great deal, which makes upgrading old saves very difficult.

Programming

  • New DevBuild for our patrons:
    • More work on the dynamic MP and undo/redo for the early multicellular editor along with removing cells feature added
    • Fixed game being able to unpause incorrectly when exiting the pause menu
    • Environment panel state is now remembered and stored in saves
    • Prevented quick saving and loading while game is fading in or out
    • Added save incompatibility point for 0.5.9 as that’ll make multiple large planned changes easier to finish for 0.5.9
    • O2 and other gases in the GUI display now use subscripts
    • Fixed open folder buttons not working on mac
    • Updated Jetbrains CLI tools version
    • Force pushes should no longer break our CI pipeline
    • Updated translations
  • Engulfment rework is nearing completion
