Thrive: Progress Update 10/14/2023

From Thrive: link to original post

The microbe stage refactoring to improve the game performance is starting to near the finish line now. A pull request has been finally opened for it with the hope being that it can be merged in the coming weeks. After that once we have the game stable enough already to play, we’ll announce the release date for 0.6.4.

The Thriveopedia is getting more content added to it soon. This next set of content includes pages describing the various organelles in the game. Along with other already completed updates and changes these will make up some content for the next release even though most of our development resources have been sucked up by the absolutely massive task of refactoring, redoing and moving around all of the microbe gameplay code to switch to an Entity Component System approach to the gameplay logic.

Programming

  • New DevBuild for our patrons:
    • Added icons to organelle tooltips in the editor to match the new organism statistics panel look, updated ATP balance bar osmoregulation icon
    • Added a tutorial for negative ATP balance
    • Fixed a regression in the previous build with removing organelles placed in current editor session not being refunded
    • Ran updated code formatting tool on FastNoiseLite library
    • Updated YamlDotNet to 13.7.0
    • Updated translations
  • The Thriveopedia is getting updated with more wiki-like pages for organelles:

The plan is to automatically copy content from our developer wiki into the game to make updating the in-game wiki easy.
