From Thrive: link to original post
As announced last week, our lead programmer is on vacation, so progress on Thrive is slowing down. But, we will still be providing you with weekly updates on volunteer programming contributions, and things that happen outside of programming.
In terms of volunteer contributions it is actually also quiet compared to recently. Item number one is some new vent terrain for our hydrothermal vents biome. Rather than using a new model, these are built up out of already existing terrain models, though they do have their own collision zone set up.
The second item is that work is now definitively underway for Multicellular Auto-Evo! This is the system that will populate your worlds with all sorts of Multicellular species. So far the scoring side is almost finished (predation has proven to take more time to work on) and Auto-Evo now determines Multicellular species populations the same as with Microbes. The next step will be to start adding mutations, and let auto-evo create new Multicellular species.
Meanwhile, over on the development forums it was actually more busy than recently, with discussions on the Macroscopic Editor, Planet Editor and space-born civilizations for the loading screens.
But the most major announcements are in music-land! First we have a wonderful new soundtrack for the Aware Species Editor by Aaron Kersh, titled “The Tree of Life.” Be sure to give it a listen!
Secondly, Aaron Kersh has compiled the entire soundtrack of music pieces written for Thrive into one. That's over four hours of music! The perfect soundtrack to imagine the progression of your species through the ages to.
Look below for the full progress list, and we'll see you next week for another first vacation Progress Update!
